Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (AMS) upgrade

Organic aerosol measurements

Organic aerosols are known to have major effects on air quality and climate, arising from both natural and anthropogenic sources, and can be formed through direct emission into the atmosphere or through atmospheric chemistry. While the current rack has been at the forefront of atmospheric composition research a number of its components are now outdated. This project will see the AMS upgraded to a high-resolution system (HR-AMS), improving FAAM’s ability to measure organic aerosols in the atmosphere.
