Doppler Wind Lidar

Real time wind profile measurements

A 1.5-micron Doppler lidar will be installed in the rear hold (using the existing large window originally installed for the Cambridge Lidar) to measure wind profiles in real time. The system will have a resolution of 10-30 metres, a range of 50-10 kilometres and a primary range gate at 10-20 metres. The Doppler lidar also has the capacity for remote operation, potentially meaning that fewer people will need to be aboard for a campaign flight.
